Two Decades of Complex Machining

Since 1985, Palmer Machine has produced a wide range of complex machined parts and assemblies for a variety of industries and applications. In order to successfully machine complicated parts, you need more than state-of-the-art precision machine tools, first-class inspection equipment, and dedicated craftsmen and machine operators. “You need a ‘sixth sense’ about removing metal,” explains Michael Palmer. “You need to know what that material is going to do before you machine it. And, you need to build that knowledge into your manufacturing planning and tooling before you cut the first chip.” While we don’t claim to be “metal psychics” at Palmer Machine, we do know a lot about complex precision machining. We gained our knowledge over twenty years of hands-on experience, producing critical components for some of the most demanding customers in the business. For applications as diverse as cryogenics, aerospace, medical, and computers, Palmer Machine has the experience and the expertise you need.

Designed-In “Manufacturability” for Tooling Solutions

Don’t bother to look it up. You won’t find the word “manufacturability” in any dictionary. But manufacturability is the best way to describe the driving force behind our tooling design services at Palmer Machine. We approach every tooling design challenge with three main elements in mind: durability, repeatability and efficiency. And, we offer unique tooling solutions designed for production from a manufacturer’s point of view. This means that we put over twenty years of actual, hands-on, hard-won machining and design experience into every tooling solution we build. It is an approach that works, and the proof is in the numbers. Over the years, our custom-built tooling systems have saved our customers thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars in production costs. We call it manufacturability. You’ll call it miraculous. Let us show you what a custom tooling system designed by an experienced manufacturer can do for you.

UGS NX4 CAD/CAM Software

Palmer Machine uses UGS NX4 CAD/CAM software for all of our design and CNC programming requirements. Unigraphics (now UGS) software has been the world-wide industry standard since it was introduced in 1975. NX4 operates in the “solid and assembly environments” and allows for the seamless integration of customer-furnished Digital Product Definitions (DFD) into our engineering, manufacturing and inspection processes. This capability greatly enhances our manufacturing efficiency and significantly reduces the possibility of translation errors. Palmer Machine can translate most standard CAD/CAM file formats including: STEP, CATIA, Parasolids, AutoCAD® .dwg, .dxf and IGES. Trust Palmer Machine to remain on the cutting edge with Model-Based Definition (MBD) technology. UGS NX4 software is one more facet of our continuing commitment to state-of-the-art technology at Palmer Machine.

E2 ERP Shop Management System

Palmer Machine uses the E2 Shop Management System from Shoptech™. This ERP software system is designed specifically for a job shop environment and provides up-to-the-minute information on all aspects of our operations. Most important for our customers are the job-tracking and job-costing features. Raw manufacturing data from the shop floor is continuously uploaded in real-time and used by our management team to spot trouble, heading off problems before they become delays, or worse. The job-costing feature gives us greater control over our production costs throughout the manufacturing process for increased efficiency and more cost-effective pricing for our customers. Palmer Machine is committed to the power of information to keep the American manufacturing industry competitive in the world market. Our continuing investment in the latest manufacturing technology is designed for one purpose: to provide you with the best possible products and service at the best possible price…and to keep you competitive.
